Give Peace a Chance

I love the season of Advent, for it calls us to a season of reflection and introspection in preparation and anticipation of the celebration of Christ's arrival into the world.  Each week in Advent focuses a specific theme (In order: Hope, Peace, Joy, and Love) that allows us to draw away, even for a brief moment, from the insanity that we have allowed to dominate our lives in what we consider to be a great season, but often for the wrong reasons.

This week, the second week of Advent, we will focus on Peace.  I don't know about you, but far more often than I want to admit, there is a lot of turmoil in my heart and mind about certain things (personal and professional, emotional and spiritual, relational and individual).  Through the gift of the season of Advent, we will spend this week anticipating the promise of Peace that comes through the Christ child.

My prayer for you is the same that I hope you pray for yourself, the prayer that we should all pray for each other: That we may accept that peace offered to us by the Christ when he said to us, "Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you (John 14:27)."

There are points in our lives where Christ is the only place we can find peace; Christ is the only place we will find eternal peace, for the peace we will find in anything in this earth (even those things we hold closest to us) will eventually wash away.

Give peace a chance.  Peace that is found only in Christ our Lord.

Grace and Peace, Lamar
